“Peace I leave with you, My Peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
John 14: 27

ATTAINABLE PEACE
C.H. Spurgeon wrote, “You cannot grow in grace in any high degree while you are conformed to the world.” God wants for us an abundant rich life, one that is “more than sufficient” in God’s love and grace. To fully experience this grace we must keep our eyes heaven bound, and not on the standards and requirements of the world. We need to let God be our counselor and not the public school, relatives, or national standards. We can and should experience His abundance in our home school. “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.” Isaiah 26: 3
One of the many names of Jesus is Prince of Peace. When He rules in our hearts and home schools, He brings wholeness and well being to our lives. Hebrews 4: 9 says there is “a Sabbath-rest for the people of God.” This is a spiritual rest – a gift from God to us. However, if our lives are so cluttered and complicated physically and emotionally, there is often little time for our spiritual selves. How do we find the peace and rest of God in the midst of our busy days? Simplify! If we realize our hearts are full of our own ides, expectations, and desires, we can ask the Holy Spirit to de-clutter the closet of our hearts. We often have stuffed them so full that we have to keep them shut and locked in order to keep it all in. If we ask the Holy Spirit to open the door and remove the clutter, then we can get to a place where we can hold out an empty cup and say, “Fill it Lord. Fill it with what’s important, what’s relevant.” We can then weigh the importance of each activity that occupies our day and that of our children. “Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.” Ephesians 5: 15-17
We need to remember to ask God about what is necessary for our children to learn, not just copy what everyone else is doing or expecting of us. Teach what will have lasting purpose and meaning. Only God’s Word and our eternal souls will remain when all is said and done. God has different plans and purposes for each one of us; ways in which each of us will be used in influencing lives for His Kingdom. We must ask ourselves if each activity is necessary for that purpose and plan God has for our children. If a child has dreams of being a doctor, then some of the preparation for that child will differ from the one who dreams of being a mother or writer or missionary. Each child is unique and exactly the way God wants them to be because He created their innermost being. Psalm 139
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” Proverbs 4: 7 God is wisdom. To be without God is to be without wisdom. Prayerfully seek from God the wisdom in how to guide and direct your child to enable him to reach his potential in God’s plan for his life.
Shalom, in the name
Jesus, who gives peace, which transcends all understanding!
