My Visit to God’s Gallery of
Art
My visit to God's Gallery
Of Art is a place to learn and/or review colors of the rainbow, shades, tones,
shapes, etc. How you use the journal will depend on where your family is
in their study of art or where your children's interest might be at the time.
For example, if you want to study "color", you could begin with
primary colors and move to secondary colors. Have your children
thumbprint the color and write its name on the page, making a "color"
book. They could draw or write something that comes in that color.
To illustrate secondary colors, they would thumbprint the two primary colors,
and the secondary color that they make up, on each page. They could also
draw or write something that comes in that color. Explore picture books
with your children and observe with them how colorful God made things.
Weather permitting, a neighborhood or nature walk is a great way to see God's
creation up close and personal.
God's Gallery of Art could also be used as a texture book. Collect things
that are rough, smooth, have ridges, etc. Cut pieces of these things out
and glue them into the book. Have your child write or dictate descriptive
words about these items.
Use the book as a shape book, even as a cloud book. Spend a warm day
cloud-gazing and draw the different shapes you see. Nature is a great
expression of God's glory and love for mankind. Another weather-
permitting activity would be to stargaze at night. Draw the night sky and
be reminded of the Scripture, Psalm 19: 1, "The heavens declare the glory
of God; the skies proclaim the works of His hands."
