As Pretty As A Rainbow

As Pretty as a Rainbow is a book for exploring the creative differences of mankind.  There are a number of ways this journal could be used.  First, to illustrate one's own family - drawing the different members and recording the differences in hair color, height, weight, eyes, et cetera.

Take a trip back to Genesis and see that from the first two people, Adam and Eve came all the variety of different characteristics.  If you haven't already done so, take a look at Acts 17: 26 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth.  'Race' is not a term ever used by God in Scripture in relation to people, except 'to run a race'.    In Genesis 11 read about the dispersion of people groups, resulting from peoples' rebellion against God.  One people, one blood!  It is so important to ingrain this into our hearts, as well as our children's, to avoid the trap of racism and, unconsciously, racism's evolutionary connections!

Study the variety of man from a language approach.  Take a simple expression like "I Love You."  Have your children research with or without you to find out how this expression is said in different languages.

Use this journal to explore foods!  Cook, record, or draw the foods from different groups around the world.  Have your child draw foods to find out where they came from (for example, coconuts from Hawaii or pasta from Italy).  Taste and enjoy!

Love is the very nature of God, and as children of His, it becomes our nature also as He lives and breathes His Life and Salvation in us.  Jesus tells us in Matthew 22: 39 "And the second is like it:  You shall love your neighbor as yourself." As our children study the differences in people, we can lead them to a greater understanding and application of love for all people.
