Tune Your Ears To God
I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting
station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune
in.
~George Washington Carver~

They that go down to the sea in
ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the LORD, and
his wonders in the deep.
Psalm 107: 23-24
For me the sea has
always held a special wonder. Though I
have been ‘to the sea in ships’ the majority of my visits have been on foot and
spent exploring the shores and all the treasures washed up from the deep.
Sometimes these
sea-treasures have been found only by a diligent and deep search among rocks
and crevices. More often the case,
these amazing creations lay idle on the sand, as if placed there by the gentle
hand of God for my pleasure, my joy, and my wonder.
When asthma comes as an uninvited visitor, I often make the
short drive to my ‘lung sanctuary’ the Gulf shores. God has shown me many parables on these visits. As I share a few of them here, my prayer is
they will not only be a kiss from God to you, but will build a desire to tune
your ears to hear God speak in the many parables that abound in your own life
and circumstances.
For the invisible things of him from
the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that
are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse…
Romans 1: 20
Abba, open
my ears so that I can listen and carry the caress of your voice with me every
second of my life.
